Uffizi Gallery private tour
Take a deep breath and immerge yourself into the beauty of italian Renaissance art at its best. Can you imagine having masterpieces of Michelangelo, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Caravaggio, Raffaello and many others… all in the same place? That place is real and is the Uffizi Gallery of Florence. Before giving you more information about my Uffizi private tour, let me tell you more about this amazing museum.
The Uffizi Gallery
This is not just one of the most famous museums in the world (and the fourth most visited one in Italy). It’s the very first art gallery in the world, and the building is as gorgeous as the pieces of art kept inside of it. Uffizi means offices, revealing the original purpose of the building. The architect Giorgio Vasari built it from 1560 to 1572, for the will of the grand duke Cosimo I de’ Medici, to gather all the offices of the public adminstration of the state in one single place. A few years later Francesco I, son of Cosimo and following gran duke of Tuscany, turned the Uffizi into his private art gallery, exhibiting here all his precious collections, from paintings to greek and roman statues.

Uffizi private tour in Florence
The exhibit is huge: the building is U shaped with two long galleries and dozens of rooms on each of the three floors. The upper floors are all packed with art from the middle age to the 17th century. You could get lost and easily spend weeks here! Just joking. But it’s very easy for tourists to wander around the rooms looking for a painting and not finding it because there’s too much amazing stuff around. With a professional local tour guide you’ll get the best of the museum and will get to know every secret of it. Your time in Florence will be optimized and you’ll be sure not to miss any unmissable masterpiece. And above all, you will really understand and love what you’re seeing, thanks to the comments of your private tour guide.
During the Uffizi private tour you will enjoy:
- The Tondo Doni by Michelangelo

- and many others (like Giotto… I love Giotto!)
