Accademia Gallery private tour
The Accademia Gallery private tour is one of the most popular in town for a reason: the museum is a must-see as it hosts the world famous Michelangelo’s David, the iconic symbol of Florence. But David is not the only one worth-to-see masterpiece here: the museum is small but rich, with six more sculptures made by Michelangelo, dozens of Middle Age and Renaissance paintings and a large collection of plaster models.
Michelangelo’s David guided tour
Michelangelo’s David is one of the most famous and beautiful marble statues in the world, representing beauty, perfection and human intelligence. It is world known and recognized as an icon from more than 500 years, but it’s much more than that. The David sculpted by Michelangelo between 1501 and 1504 is representing the true spirit of Florence and florentines, a spirit of independence, democracy and knowledge.
There are many replicas of David in the city. The most popular is the one in Piazza della Signoria, in the same place where the original David had stood for about 400 years (when then was moved inside the Accademia Galley Museum to preserve it from damages and pollution), and another one in bronze stands in piazzale Michelangelo’s, the most magnificent viewpoint of Florence.
But the original Michelangelo’s David can only be seen at the Accademia gallery museum. And I can tell you the the original is so much more impressive, beautiful and detailed then the replicas, it’s really something you don’t want to miss.
